PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. –
North American Aerospace Defense Command will hold a birthday celebration commemorating 57 years as a command. The celebration will be held at 8:30 a.m., May 12, in the Building 2 Atrium, located on Peterson AFB.
Adm. Bill Gortney, NORAD and U.S. Northern Command commander, will provide opening remarks beginning at 9 a.m. Gortney and Lt. Gen. Alain Parent, NORAD’s deputy commander, will be available to speak with media following the cake cutting.

NORAD is the bi-national Canadian and American command that provides maritime warning, aerospace warning and aerospace control for Canada and the United States. The command has three subordinate regional headquarters: the Alaskan NORAD Region at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska; the Canadian NORAD Region at Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg, Manitoba; and the Continental NORAD Region at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.
