Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel visits military installations in Colorado Springs

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will visit military installations in Colorado Springs, Colo., June 27-28.  It will be his first visit to the area since being sworn in as the 24th Secretary of Defense on February 27, 2013. 

While in Colorado, Secretary Hagel will visit the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command at Peterson AFB. Secretary Hagel will receive briefings from Gen. Chuck Jacoby and staff on a number of issues including homeland defense, integrated air and missile defense, US-Mexico military-to-military relations, and defense support of civil authorities.  He will also visit Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station and Fort Carson.
There are two opportunities on Friday, June 28, for media to cover the visit:

· 8:45 a.m. – 8:55 a.m.  – Secretary Hagel and Gen. Jacoby will make brief statements at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station.

· 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – Secretary Hagel will conduct a town hall meeting with Soldiers at Fort Carson.
