PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. — North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) will conduct Exercise AMALGAM DART from Aug. 24 to Sept. 1, 2026, at locations across North America.
The long-planned, routine, and defensive exercise includes forces across the Alaskan, Canadian, and Continental U.S. NORAD Regions to enhance NORAD’s ability to detect, track, identify, and respond to modern air-domain threats in the defense of North America.
U.S. and Canadian personnel will integrate mixed fighter force operations, command and control organizations, air battle management, and aircraft serving as simulated adversary in realistic scenarios. Training will include coordinated responses along the eastern and western approaches to North America and cruise missile defense scenarios integrating binational assets operating from 3 Wing Bagotville, Quebec.
The exercise will also include coordination with U.S. Pacific Command and information sharing with U.S. European Command during their Exercise NORTHERN VIKING, demonstrating both Commands’ ability to coordinate with partner combatant commands and allies in support of North American defense. This exercise also supports NORAD and USNORTHCOM's continued development of the Nordic Bridge concept, which supports closer coordination with SHAPE, EUCOM, and other key partners to improve domain awareness, enhance interoperability, and synchronize activities across the Arctic.
Exercise AMALGAM DART strengthens aerospace warning, aerospace control, and integrated air and missile defense while reinforcing the enduring partnership between Canada and the United States. NORAD and USNORTHCOM routinely conduct carefully planned and closely controlled exercises to ensure forces remain ready to defend North America.
