PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - Members of NORAD and USNORTHCOM watch as Don Addy, Chairman of the Colorado 30 Group, and Army Maj. Gen. Charles Luckey, NORAD and USNORTHCOM Chief of Staff, lay a wreath at the headquarters 9/11 memorial Sept. 11, 2012. Every year, the NORAD and USNORTHCOM staff remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks with a ceremony commemorating their sacrifice. The memorial is comprised of three parts: The recovered steel beam pays respect to the lives lost in New York and points in the city’s direction. The five-sided planter honors those who died at the Pentagon, and the soil in the planter comes from Pennsylvania to pay respect to the people who died on Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville, Penn. (U.S. Air Force photo by Michael Kucharek)
