PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - Navy Adm. James Winnefeld, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command commander, escorts members of the Canadian Embassy and consulates to NORAD and USNORTHCOM headquarters at the beginning of a visit to the commands Feb. 15. The purpose of the visit was to educate the members of the Canadian Consulate Heads of Mission about the missions of NORAD as well as those assumed by USNORTHCOM after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in connection with homeland defense. More than 20 Embassy and consulate staff members received briefings on the NORAD and USNORTHCOM missions and tours of the NORAD and USNORTHCOM Command Center and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station.
