Georgia Community Leaders Visit NORAD, NORTHCOM

N-NC Public Affairs

Community leaders from the state of Georgia visited NORAD and USNORTHCOM Headquarters here Aug. 19, 2016.

The community leaders were part of a civic leader tour and were flown to Colorado by the 94th Airlift Wing from Dobbins ARB, Ga.  The experience allowed the civic leaders to gain a clearer understanding of the roles and missions of various military organizations with an emphasis on the Air Force Reserve.

The complete visit to the Colorado Springs area included a behind-the-scenes look at the United States Air Force Academy and the development of the Air Force’s future leaders. The group also received a hands-on tour of specialized equipment and mission briefings from the 302d Airlift Wing to include the Modular Aerial Fire Fighting System mission.

The visit and briefing from NORAD and U.S. Northern Command gave the civic leaders insight into the big-picture Defense Support for Civil Authorities (DSCA) role of U.S. Northern Command in relationship to the MAFFS mission as well as Homelands Defense and Security Cooperation.
