By NORAD and USNORTHCOM Public Affairs
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command will conduct ARDENT SENTRY 13, a major yearly exercise focused on Defense Support of Civil Authorities during May 2013.
The exercise will be primarily a Command Post Exercise (CPX), but will incorporate field training (FTX) events within the exercise. Those FTX events will take place in Montana, Florida, and South Carolina. In Montana, the Air Force Global Strike Command will conduct a response operation for a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear type incident near Malmstrom Air Force Base. In Florida, the Florida National Guard will work with state and local officials to respond to major hurricanes and hazardous material events. In South Carolina, the National Guard will conduct FTX events at multiple locations in response to a hurricane and hazardous material events. US Army North will train with the Mexican military to provide a coordinated response to a simulated disaster event along the US-Mexico border.
