PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – United States Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command, will dedicate a new 9-11 memorial Tuesday, May 18, at 1 p.m. at the headquarters building on Peterson Air Force Base.
A steel beam, recovered from the remnants of the World Trade Center, was donated to NORAD and USNORTHCOM by the National Homeland Defense Foundation and forms the heart of this new memorial.

NORAD is the bi-national Canadian and American command that is responsible for aerospace control and defense of North America and maritime warning.
USNORTHCOM is the joint combatant command formed in the wake of the Sept.11, 2001 terrorist attacks to provide homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities.
