PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - The commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command announced the Alaska NORAD Region as the Partridge-Slemon Award winner for 2009.
The Partridge-Slemon Award is presented annually to recognize the outstanding NORAD directorate, region, or sector; Air Force Space Command warning unit or other contributing unit in support of NORAD.
The award, representing the strong partnership between the U.S. and Canada, is named after General Earle E. Partridge, the first commander of NORAD; and Air Marshal C. Roy Slemon, the first deputy commander of NORAD. Partridge and Slemon laid the groundwork to establish a combined air defense organization to provide defense for North America.
Congratulations and job well done to the men and women of the Alaska NORAD Region.
