NORAD fighters scrambled today

Today, two F-15 fighters under the operational control of NORAD were scrambled at approximately 1:15 p.m. EDT from Homestead AFB, Fl. The fighters were responding to an civilian aircraft that was indicating that it was high-jacked. The aircraft reestablished communications with air traffic control in Miami where they quickly determined that it was a communications error. The fighters shadowed the aircraft until it landed without incident at Miami International Airport at 1:45 p.m. EDT. For further information on this incident, please contact the FAA.
