PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — U.S. Navy Adm. Timothy J. Keating, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command, will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming change-of-command ceremony of Commander, Task Force-70. The ceremony is scheduled to take place Friday aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), forward deployed at Fleet Activities, Yokosuka, Japan.

Keating, a 1971 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, is no stranger to Japan, having commanded Carrier Group Five (forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan) from June 1998 to Sept. 2000. His visit will include meetings with senior Japanese and U.S. officials to discuss Homeland Defense and Missile Defense.

NORAD is a bi-national United States and Canadian organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning and aerospace control for North America.

USNORTHCOM was established Oct. 1, 2002, to provide command and control of Department of Defense homeland defense efforts and to coordinate defense support of civil authorities.
