PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – The North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command actively participated in the Quadrennial Defense Review process and support its conclusions and recommendations.
“The Quadrennial Defense Review reflects the lessons learned since the 9/11 attacks on the U.S., our engagement in the Global War on Terror, major humanitarian relief operations, our global military force posture realignment and BRAC initiatives,” said Admiral Timothy J. Keating, commander of NORAD and USNORTHCOM.
“The QDR addresses homeland defense issues such as enhancing maritime domain awareness and facilitating full-scale civil-military exercises to improve interagency planning for complex homeland security contingencies.
“We are extremely pleased the QDR recommends, in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, development of a National Homeland Security Plan to enhance unity of effort among federal agencies, state and local governments, as well as with Canada and Mexico, to improve homeland defense and homeland security,” Keating said.
“This document is a significant step in meeting and defeating the threats of the 21st Century and enhances our ability to meet our sacred obligation to protect this Nation.”
