New Senior Enlisted Adviser Named for NORAD and USNORTHCOM

Marine Corps Sergeant Major D. Scott Frye was named as the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Senior Enlisted Adviser today. Frye replaces retiring Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Kevin D. Estrem as the two commands top enlisted person.

As the NORAD and USNORTHCOM Senior Enlisted Adviser, Frye will be the principal adviser to the commander on all enlisted matters. His responsibilities include keeping the commander apprised of all matters affecting the health, welfare, morale, effective utilization, and quality of life of the command's enlisted members. He coordinates with headquarters staff agencies, commanders, and senior enlisted personnel on matters of administration and implementation of command policy.

"I am deeply honored to serve as the NORAD and USNORTHCOM Senior Enlisted Adviser, " Frye said. "I know of no greater team, no greater mission, no greater commander that I could be more privileged to serve with and for. I promise that our collective efforts will continue the relentless pursuit of the peace, safety, and security of our homeland and all of its citizens. Mission first, people always!"

Frye has been a sergeant major since 1994 with assignments including; 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; Marine Barracks, 8th & I, Washington, D.C.; Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Va.; and most recently U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Atlantic, North and South, Norfolk, Va.

A Connecticut native, Frye enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1975 and began his Marine career as a correctional specialist. He has also served as a drill instructor, duty warden, law enforcement academy chief instructor, and first sergeant.

Frye was meritoriously promoted to sergeant, staff sergeant and gunnery sergeant.

His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star.
