Major General Allan “Al” Pepin is the Chief of Staff (CS), North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.
He is the principal advisor to the Combatant Commander and Deputy Commanders on the activities of the command staff. Additionally, he oversees command policies and programs that support the Commander’s priorities and mission to defend North America and provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities.
Major General Pepin recently commanded Joint Task Force-National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, Washington D.C. As a General Officer, he also served as the Deputy Commanding General, United States Army Special Operations Command and the Commanding General of U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command.
Major General Pepin received his commission as a distinguished military graduate through the U.S. Army ROTC program at Northeastern University and received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. He also holds master’s degrees in Business Management and National Security and Strategic Studies. He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Naval War College.
His leadership assignments includes Platoon Leader of C & E Troops of 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment; Commander of Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment; Company Commander of Bravo Company (AH-6), Task Force 1-160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR); Battalion Commander of 145th Aviation Regiment; Task Force Commander of Task Force 1-160th SOAR; and Brigade Commander of 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.
At the Tactical Headquarters level, he served as Battalion Intelligence Officer for 1st Battalion, 101st Aviation Brigade; Battalion Flight Operations Officer, Special Mission Liaison Officer, and Battalion Operations Officer for Task Force 1-160th SOAR; Battalion Operations Officer for 1st Attack Battalion, 82nd Aviation Brigade and Brigade Operations Officer for 82nd Aviation Brigade; Regiment Operations Officer and Executive Officer for 160th SOAR. At the General Headquarters level, he served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Forces Command.
Major General Pepin deployed on classified operations with 160th SOAR and combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq with the 160th SOAR, 82nd Airborne Division, and 3d Infantry Division.
MG Pepin attributes the awards he has received to the great Soldiers, Civilians, and families he has had the honor to serve with. He has earned the Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, the Master Aviator Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
He is married to the former Heather Lewison who is an attorney. They are blessed with their Son Zachary, Daughter-in-Law Kayla, and Granddaughter Leddy.
