Team,
This year marks the 60th anniversary of NORAD, a significant milestone in the history of this unique bi-national organization that is committed to the defense of our nations and our citizens each and every day.
For 60 years NORAD has had "the Watch," and I am immensely proud of the work all members of NORAD, military and civilian, Canadian and American to maintain the safety and security of our Nations. The success of NORAD is due to all of you and the thousands of men and women over the past 60 years who dedicated themselves to the service of defending Canada and the United States.
This important anniversary provides us the opportunity to look back and reflect on all of those who have executed the NORAD missions since the first NORAD agreement in 1958, to look inward at the work we do each day and to look to the future of NORAD and the defence of North America.
Throughout 2018 we will be recognizing our 60th anniversary in a number of different and special ways, but most significantly during our showcase events here in Colorado Springs on May 11th&12th and in Winnipeg on May 24th, where we will come together to celebrate our past, honor the uniqueness of our bi-national command, and look to the future as we continue to evolve to meet the ever-changing threats.
I encourage all of you to participate in the NORAD 60th events throughout the year and mark your calendars in May to ensure we are able to come together to recognize the importance of our ongoing work and our continued commitment to the defense of our Nations."
Respectfully,
- General Lori J. Robinson
Commander NORAD & U.S. Northern Command
