The NORAD Canadian Hockey League (NCHL) commenced play on 13 Sep 09 at the United States Air Force Academy Field House Hockey Rink. The NCHL was started by Canadian Forces (CF) personnel stationedto the Colorado Springs areasome thirty yearsago. The original purpose of its formation was toprovide a non-contact and no slapshot hockey league for the recreation and physical fitness of Canadian Forces members serving in the Colorado Springs area. General Gene Renuart, Commander of NORAD and USNORTHCOM was a key conference speaker at the Seattle Maritime and Port Security Summit, in Seattle, Wash. May 28 - 29. Renuart shared how his two commands defend the nation, with a focus on interagency teamwork and maritime security initiatives. He emphasized the importance of integrating efforts to develop a common picture of the maritime domain.
